বাংলাদেশ ষড়ঋতুর দেশ, এদেশ নাতিশীতোষ্ণ জলবায়ুর অঞ্চল। শীতের তীব্রতা অন্যান্য শীত প্রধান দেশের মতো না হলেও এ অঞ্চলে বসবাসরত মানুষের কাছে শীত; আমেজ এবং ভোগান্তি দুরূপেই ধরা দেয়। 

A winter morning বা শীতের সকাল সাধারণত কুয়াশাচ্ছন্ন এবং ঠান্ডা হয়ে থাকে, প্রকৃতি তার রং হারিয়ে বিষন্ন হয়ে থাকে। তবে সকালের কুয়াশা ঘাসে, গাছের পাতায় বা ফুলের উপর মুক্তোর মতো সুন্দর হয়ে উঠে সুর্যের কিরণে। শীতের সকালে পিঠা, খেজুরের রস ছোট শিশু থেকে শুরু করে বৃদ্ধ পর্যন্ত সব বয়সের মানুষের জন্যই শীতের আমেজ তৈরি করে। তবে কিছু মানুষ, যাদের কাছে পর্যাপ্ত শীতবস্ত্র নেই বা ঘর নেই তাদের ভোগান্তির কথাও শীতের সকাল মনে করিয়ে দেয়।

A Winter Morning

In Bangladesh, there are six different seasons. Winter is the coldest of them all. As a result, winter mornings are inherently remarkably cold. It's normally a foggy morning, with thick fog all around. On such a winter morning, the fog can be so dense that nothing can be seen even from a short distance. Even the sun's beams are unable to penetrate the fog. Everything is engulfed in deep fog and bitter cold. Nature appears gloomy, and everything appears hazy. Due to the gloomy weather and harsh cold, people often wake up late and children are frequently late for school. When heading to their place of employment and performing their job, people need to start their day early in the cold weather. People living in the village and facility-deprived people living in the city streets are the ones who suffer most in such morning due to a lack of warm clothing. When the sun comes up and unveils the fog. People, particularly the elderly and children, seek comfort in the sun to cure their colds. Dewdrops that fall on grass, leaves, and flowers at midnight, sparkle like pearls in the early sun. Date juice vendors can frequently be spotted selling date juice on the corner of the streets. A sip of such a  sweet drink is quite refreshing. Eating homemade cakes (Pitha) and date juice while relaxing in the warmth of the early morning sun is such a pleasant and lovely feeling that most people would love to have, which is why most children enjoy winter mornings so much.
