Active

Active, the word is used as an adjective.

Meaning as an adjective:

1. Being busy with any activity.

(কোন কাজ নিয়ে ব্যস্ত বা সক্রিয় থাকা)

Example:

• My father always led an active life.
• The woman is still very active at the age of 85 years.
• We should always keep ourselves active.

2. Being engaged in any particular work.

(কোন নির্দিষ্ট কাজে নিয়োজিত বা সক্রিয় থাকা)

Example:

• He is an active member of the cooperative society.
• Her acting career was active in 1980’s.
• That man is an active politician.

3. An active volcano throws out lava or hot liquids at any time which is called eruption.

(একটি সক্রিয় আগ্নেয়গিরি যেকোন সময় গলিত লাভা বা উত্তপ্ত তরল পদার্থ উদ্গিরণ করতে পারে, যাকে বলা হয় অগ্নুৎপাত)

Example:

• Don’t go near to that active volcano, it is dangerous.

4. In English grammar, an active sentence is the form of a sentence where the person is the subject, and the work s/he does is the object.

(ইংরেজী ব্যাকরণে, বাক্যের যে রূপে person, subject হিসেবে কাজ করে এবং সে যা করে তা object হয় তাকে active sentence বলে।)

Example:

• He did the work. (Active)
• The work was done by him. (Passive)

Proactive

Proactive, the word is also used as an adjective.

Proactive, শব্দটিও একটি adjective হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Meaning as an adjective:

Taking steps to cause a change in anticipation of future needs, changes or problems instead of reacting to changes.

(পরিবর্তনের প্রতি প্রতিক্রিয়াশীল না হয়ে ভবিষ্যৎ প্রয়োজন, পরিবর্তন বা সমস্যার কথা মাথায় রেখে নতুন পদক্ষেপ নেয়া।)

Example:

• The Chairman of the company is playing a proactive role to solve the problem.
• We all should try to be proactive to help the poor during any crisis.
• Our proactive role can solve the problem of environmental pollution to a great extent.
